National Sea Cadet Training Centre
The Centre is situated a mile west of Torpoint, East Cornwall, overlooking St John's Lake, in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The close proximity of the rugged Cornish Coast, sheltered inlets and the open spaces of Dartmoor provide the ideal natural environment for adventurous training of all kinds.
The Sea Cadets are accommodated in Vigilant Squadron which is situated in the heart of the training area and shares many of the Royal Navy facilities and instructors. Whilst at Vigilant Squadron, depending which course you undertake, you could be participating in Ship visits, Fire-fighting, various sports, First Aid Training, Orienteering or Sea Survival.
Cadets and adults of the Sea Cadet Corps may apply through the Sea Cadet Headquarters to attend any one of the 19 national courses on offer. Details of dates and age limitations can be found in the Sea cadet National Training Programmes issued annually.
These include Seamanship, Navigation, RYA Power/Sailing, Cook/Steward, Writer/Stores, First Aid and the Cadet General courses. Units can also book Continuation Unit Team Training in HMS Raleigh and the Outward Bound Centre at Pier Cellars by contacting the Sea Cadet Training Officer direct on 01752 811496 or 811477.
