7000 Hours For Andy
Andy Vanes has just celebrated achieving a remarkable 7000 hours flying time with the Royal Navy. Andy currently works for SERCO as an aircrew officer, flying the Jetstream at Royal Naval Air Station Yeovilton. His job entails navigating Service personnel and VIPS all around Europe. In his spare time as an RN Reservist Chief Petty Officer Aircrewman, he flies in Sea King helicopters, helping to train junior Royal Marines.
Andy was educated at Kings Holm School, Gloucester, and previously spent 27 years in the Royal Navy, flying in Wessex, Wasp and Sea King helicopters. Now, working for SERCO and still flying, Andy says he is a lucky man because he has a job he loves, occasionally overflying his beloved Kings Holm, rugby ground and his mum’s house in Gloucester.
