A Day of Promotions and Awards in HMS Ledbury

Topic: Fighting armsSurface Fleet

he Captain of HMS Ledbury, Lt Cdr Tom Trent RN, had the pleasure of hosting Captain MFP of COMPORFLOT for the award of promotions and recognition to sailors across the seniority (and ages!) within MCM2 Crew 7.

Crew 7 recently returned from Op KIPION in HMS Chiddingfold and have since assumed their new position in HMS Ledbury.

The ship is returning to the fleet after a significant and major refit including re-propulsion using modern diesels to replace the aging Deltic machinery - Ledbury is the 5th Hunt class to be blessed with this new lease of propulsive-life, after Chiddingfold, Hurworth, Middleton and Cattistock.

Promotions were awarded to LET(CIS) ‘Rod’ Hull to POET(CIS), CH ‘Ginge’ Halcrow to LALCH and AB(MW) Fish to AB1 - service recognition was also awarded to LS(MW) Luke Brady with his 2nd Good Conduct Badge (GCB) and PO(D) ‘Bernie’ Winter (the Ship’s Coxswain) with his Long Service and Good Conduct (LSGC) medal (or ’15 years of undetected crime’ as he put it).

Lt Cdr Trent commented "It was a pleasure to host Captain Milburn for the awards and to recognise such a wide range of ranks for their sterling effort within the Service – all should be rightly proud of their achievements and the added respect such awards and promotion provide.

“I too am proud of all of them to their contribution to Ledbury, MCM2 and the Service as a whole’.

All should be rightly proud of their achievements and the added respect such awards and promotion provide.

Lt Cdr Trent RN
