Thousands enjoy Father’s Day at the HMS Sultan Summer Show

The HMS Sultan Summer Show 2016 signed off in style as thousands of visitors flocked to the event for a Father’s Day to remember.

The Show ran across the weekend and was crammed full of a huge variety of interactive displays and activities.

In the Main Show Arena, the crowds were wowed by gigantic roaring Monster Trucks and amazing stunts from renowned motor cycle display teams Bolddog Lings. 

In addition Bob Hogg’s Sheepdog Displays and The Lamb National offered an interactive display for all ages and in keeping with the best of military traditions HMS Sultan’s Ceremonial Guard marked the Establishment’s 60th anniversary with a special Marching Display. 

In the Big Top, The Festival Circus provided impressive displays of acrobatics and comedy antics from the Clowns. Additionally, visitors were also given an opportunity to get hints and tips from the professionals in a number of Circus Skills workshops.

There truly was something for everyone to enjoy, with activities ranging right from an exhibition of classic cars and a Steam Fayre through to petting zoos, mobile caving and classic games like Soak a Sailor.

Throughout the weekend, local Royal Navy Cadets competed in a Field Gun Competition and in drawing the event towards a close the HMS Sultan Volunteer Band, Beat Retreat and performed Ceremonial Sunset in the Main Arena before the Monster Trucks roared once more to everyone’s delight.

Captain Trevor Gulley, the Commanding Officer of HMS Sultan, said: “The HMS Sultan Summer Show is the largest community event held by the Establishment throughout the year.

“Over the weekend we have welcomed thousands of visitors to both the Show and our Children’s Party, for disabled and disserving children.”

“The Show provides the people of Gosport with an excellent program of entertainment and activities.

“In addition thousands of pounds is raised for Service and local charities and good causes.”
