HMS Collingwood sailors make donation to Naval Charity

A team of sailors from Victory Squadron, HMS Collingwood, are delighted to have been able to make a donation to the Royal Naval Benevolent Trust (RNBT), following their support to Prudential RideLondon FreeCycle in July 2016.

When the organisers of this annual event contacted the Officer in Charge of Victory Squadron to ask if they would be able to provide any help, Leading Hand Des Mukungurutse volunteered to take a team up to London.

Required to help re acquaint participants with their personal belongings that had been transferred from start to finish in trucks, the sailors were all given a donation of £20 to give to their nominated charity.

For Des this was an easy choice, and the group decided to donate all of the money to the RNBT.

He said “We appreciate all the work of the RNBT and wanted to support them.”

Receiving the donation Corinne Day, RNBT Events and Publicity Officer said “Victory Squadron have always had very strong links with RNBT and Pembroke House. 

“We are so grateful of the thoughtfulness of the staff and students.”

The next Prudential RideLondon FreeCycle offers a brilliant opportunity to get the whole family together to experience the fun and freedom of cycling on traffic-free roads in central London.

The eight-mile circuit passes iconic London landmarks including Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, St Paul’s Cathedral and the Bank of England and again goes south of the river with a loop over Waterloo Bridge, offering stunning views of London.

The RNBT provides support to Royal Navy and Royal Marines personnel and their families.

Every year, they provide financial assistance to thousands of members of The RNBT family during times of need.
