Naval base workers fundraise for Dunbartonshire charity

Forty military and civilian workers from the Home of the UK Submarine Service have begun to raise money for Dunbartonshire charity the Vale of Leven Autism and Asperger’s Forum in Renton.

The team set off from Carbeth to complete a 12 mile ramble over the Kilpatrick Hills to the finish line at the Dumbarton Masonic Lodge on Saturday, 20 August 2016.

Last year the team raised more than £6,000 for The Child Brain Injury Trust and are confident that they will exceed that figure when they add in the monies raised from their fundraising evening on Saturday, 1 October.

This event will be held at the Dumbarton Masonic Lodge, which is already a 250 seat sell out and will feature a live band, buffet, and fantastic raffle and tombola prizes donated by lots of Dunbartonshire and Argyll & Bute businesses.

The fundraising team consists of co-workers from HM Naval Base Clyde and included sailors, Babcock staff and their friends from the local area.

“Every year our team of colleagues supports a good cause in Scotland,” said HM Naval Base Clyde Base Warrant Officer, Wayne Burbury.

“This year we chose the Vale of Leven Autism and Asperger’s Forum as one of our colleagues has a personal connection to their great work across Dunbartonshire and the West of Scotland.”
