We were very well looked after by our American counterparts and it was a great day for all lucky enough to get across

Surg Lt Steve Woolley RN, HMS Monmouth's Medical Officer

“I am grateful for our fully extensive tour of HMS Monmouth, including the exciting ride in the Black Knight helicopter. We all want to say a big thank you to the crew for their kindness over the day,”

said Lt Anderson USN, a Dental Officer from USS John C Stennis.

During the tours the special Anglo-US relationship was cemented with the exchange of gifts such as baseball caps from the Americans and RN emblazoned tea-cups from the British.

The visit was part of a passing exercise (PASSEX) to improve interoperability between the two navies.
