At school I was the chatterbox, the class clown. I was scared stiff at the idea of joining the Royal Navy – it felt like a massive step. It was. But it’s the best move I’ve ever made, no doubt. Finally, I’ve found some focus.
Being in the Navy is all about the life. It’s so much more than a job. I’m learning loads every day, not just from studying for qualifications I never thought I’d be able to get, but from the incredible people around me, too.
Going from no qualifications at all to being able to fire, fix and maintain some of the most powerful weapons in the world gives me a real kick. I never imagined I’d ever be doing this. But I wouldn’t swap it for anything.
The Navy’s given me so much, and it’s just the start. I’ll end up with a degree in Engineering. They’ve even helped me pass my driving test. My journey’s been incredible so far. Made me who I am today.
