Live Chat with Marine Matt Trickett

What does it take to make it as a Royal Marines Commando? Fitness, strength, courage and determination of course but, without the right State of Mind, you’re never going to make the grade.

Our latest Live Chat, with Marine Matt Trickett, offers a great chance to get inside the head of a Royal Marine and find out just what that all-important State of Mind really means.

Matt knew that he wanted to be a Royal Marines Commando from the age of 12. His Grandfather was in the Royal Marines and Matt was set on joining too. After finishing his GCSEs, Matt went on to study for NVQs in Carpentry – a good practical subject that definitely comes in handy in the Corps – and Fitness and Exercise. This allowed him to get in plenty of time in the gym – a big help when it came to applying to join the Royal Marines.

Matt took the PRMC (Potential Royal Marine Course) at the beginning of 2007, was accepted and started his 32 week training programme later in 2007. In July 2008 he joined C Company, 40 Commando as a Rifleman and he’ll be staying there for the time being, getting all the unique experience that only life as part of a Close Combat Troop can offer, before he takes his career to the next level with specialisation training.

If you’d like to know more, join Matt for this Royal Marines special Live Chat. Just visit our website between 4-6pm on Wednesday 28th January to get your questions answered.
