HMS Artful

Artful

Artful is the third of the seven Astute-class submarines to be built at Barrow. The boat is currently in build in BAE Submarine Solutions' massive Devonshire Dock Hall, and will follow her sisters HM submarines Astute and Artful in due course. The final major weld has been made, completing the boat's hull.

Artful HISTORY

TRACK THE HISTORY OF SHIPS NAMED Artful
  • The First Artful

    When she emerges from build, HMS Artful will be the second vessel of the name in the Royal Navy. The first was also a submarine, an A-class boat launched on 22 May 1947 at Scotts of Greenock and commissioned on 2 February 1948.

  • Sold

    She was sold to be broken in June 1972, and was subsequently scrapped at Cairnryan.
