HMS Temeraire
HMS Temeraire
The current HMS Temeraire is located on Burnaby Road in Portsmouth. Under the mantra of ‘Fit to Fight’ and ‘Fit for Life, the establishment is home to the Director of Naval Physical Development (DNPD), and is to the alma mater for RN Sport, Adventurous and Physical Education (inc Executive Health). Co-located at HMS Temeraire is the Royal Navy School of Physical Training, a satellite of the Maritime Warfare School, which is responsible for training members of the Royal Navy to become Physical Training Instructors.
Under the banner of promoting a healthy lifestyle, HMS Temeraire’s first rate fitness facilities allow Service and permitted civilian personnel to train towards fulfilling their goals.
HMS Temeraire boasts competition grade squash courts, a 33 metre swimming pool, a comprehensive cardiovascular suite, 2 gymnasiums, (marked for Netball, Basketball, volleyball and badminton) and an outdoor tennis court. Free access is available to all Service personnel and their dependants. User passes are available to Ministry of Defence staff and pensionable ex service personnel at a nominal cost.

Members of the Armed Forces to raise flags at London 2012 Download images of selected flag bearers at the Olympic Park from 12:00 Service personnel from the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force have today been announced as the flag bearers for the Team Welcome and Victory Ceremonies at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.Dressed in their Ceremonial Day uniforms, 176 service men and women will take part in 100 Team Welcome Ceremonies and 805 Victory Ceremonies during the Games.The personnel have been chosen through a Ministry of Defence (MOD) nomination process, highlighting those with sporting or operational achievements, or who are involved in their local community. Teams will consist of six flag bearers and one flag manager. There will be eight Royal Navy teams, nine Army teams,eight RAF teams and one overall commander who will sit centrally with the London 2012 Team Welcome and Victory Ceremonies team.
