Director Naval Nursing Service
The Queen Alexandra’s Royal Naval Nursing Service (QARNNS) provides nurses (male and female, Officers and Ratings, full time and Reserves) with exciting opportunities which will not only challenge nursing skills but also afford personal development and prospects, whist ensuring the best care provision possible in some of the most difficult medical and non – medical settings.
The opportunities for working in obscure and exciting places are always available whilst still ensuring your clinical skills are kept up to date in base ports.
Training opportunities are excellent as the Royal Navy demands the best from their people and that the best care is provided for their people.
Current deployment opportunities include Afghanistan, the Primary Casualty Reception Ship RFA Argus, as part of a rapid reaction surgical Role 2 team on board other RFA vessels and with the Commando Forward Surgical Team, Royal Marines.
The QARNNS currently has nurses employed across the spectrum of specialities, including most recently introduced in Burns and Plastics, Orthopaedic Trauma and Practice (Primary Care) Nursing. Matron in Chief/Director Naval Nursing QARNNS is a firm believer and fully committed to the standards of care provided to the Royal Navy personnel and all in the Armed Forces. In this day and age the QARNNS and Royal Naval Medical Services are rapidly evolving and Joint working with the Army and RAF, and Allied Forces, provides challenges and opportunities for all.
