‘The raging of the sea and the violence of the enemy’ were the ancient adversaries of the seafarer. He struggled with them continually, and learned to believe in God and to seek His protection. Naval Chaplains have provided the focus for this abiding hope of all who sail our seas.
Who We Are
Chaplain of the Fleet
The Reverend Scott Brown joined the RN in 1993.
Scott has served in small ships, frigates and destroyers. He served as Staff Chaplain before being promoted Principal Chaplain in February 2007. He is also an Honorary Chaplain to Her Majesty the Queen.
He became Chaplain of the Fleet in 2011.
Royal Marines Chaplain
The Reverend Bill Gates is a chaplain with the Royal Marines.
Royal Navy Chaplain
The Reverend Tudor Botwood has served as a Royal Navy Chaplain since 2002.
Maritime Reserves Chaplain
The Reverend Keith Robus is a chaplain with the Maritime Reserves, but he is fully-trained and ready to deploy with the full-time chaplains of the Naval Service when needed.
