Roles within the Royal Marines Reserve
Commando
Just like the regular Corps, everyone starts out as a General Duties Marine. Once you’ve built up some experience, you’ll have the chance to train for one of the Commando specialist jobs. Your particular career path will depend on the needs of the service, plus any previous military experience and existing specialist skills you may have.
Officer
As a Royal Marines Reserve Officer, certain specialist jobs are open to you. These specializations need military, technical and leadership skills of the highest order, so the selection process is extremely rigorous.
