The Warrant Officers and Chief Petty Officers mess from HMS Albion recently raised £2,227 for Jeremiah’s Journey over the four month RFTG 11 (Cougar) deployment.
Charities representative, CPO (WS) (AWT) John ‘Ruby’ Murray and the other mess members helped organise a number of events such as horse racing, quizzes and casino evenings.
Louise Orchard (pictured), from Jeremiah’s Journey was amazed at the amount of money the WO and CPO’s mess was able to raise over such a short period of time.
She said: “During our six week programme we can see up to 60 bereaved children at a time, this money and raised awareness is exactly the sort of support that keeps us going, HMS Albion and her crew have shown humbling kindness.”
The Executive Officer, Cdr Nick Washer. was pleased to receive Louise onboard for lunch and to present the cheque.
It is hoped that this will raise awareness of Jeremiah’s Journey and their main target is to have their own premises away from Derriford, to act like a drop in centre for children who have experienced a loss of someone they love.
