Ramsey deployed from Faslane on a blustery day in May, and now seven months on, it is time for the crew to head back for a well-deserved Christmas break with their families.
The seven-month deployment has seen the ship take part in national, coalition and multi-national exercises to maintain and strengthen the partnerships in this strategically- important area of the world.
The Commanding Officer, Lt Cdr Alex Bush said:
‘‘We have achieved all we can in HMS Ramsey from refit, through our intensive training in preparation for a full deployment in an operational theatre.
"We now look forward to the challenges and opportunities of 2012 in a different Sandown Class vessel when we re-deploy in HMS Penzance’’.
After Christmas leave the crew will take over HMS Penzance and begin the process of regeneration and training to be ready for deployment again in late 2012.
