Handicapped Children's Pilgrimage Trust (HCPT) “Bag Packing” Fundraiser13/12/2011
Personnel from Victory Squadron in HMS Collingwood, Fareham and the Defence Diving School (DDS) in Portsmouth raised an astonishing £1529.25 recently by packing bags at Asda in Fareham.
The money raised will go directly to the HCPT (Royal Navy) Portsmouth group.
The money will be used to pay for handicapped children from Service families to go on the experience of a lifetime for 1 week during Easter 2012.
HCPT-The Pilgrimage Trust is a UK-based charity, formed in 1956, that organises a pilgrimage to Lourdes, France, every Easter for children and young people with special needs.
The RN first became involved in 1979 and now sends groups each year from Plymouth, Portsmouth and Faslane.
The RN contingent in 2011 totalled 50 people, including 16 serving personnel from junior rate to senior officer, specialist medical staff and 18 direct dependant children of RN families.
Families can send their children knowing that the children will get 1-to-1 care with a substantial on-hand nursing and medical presence.
