Weekly Programme of Events / Activities

Crownhill Family Centre is situated next to the Tavistock Road, central to the centre of Plymouth.  The centre provides a programme of social, health and educational activities for families living in Crownhill and the local surrounding areas.  The centre provides support to those living in the family estates in Crownhill, Eggbuckland, Widewell, and Manadon plus the wider service community living in their own homes.

Make new friends! try our Meet a Mum group every Tuesday and Thursday for 2 hours from 09:30, drop-in and have a coffee and a chat.  Along side this group is the baby Clinic with Health Visitors available to talk through any concerns you may have, supporting this group is the ‘Chatterbox’ workers in partnership with Y.M.C.A. who will engage with you and your child while you wait to speak to the Health Visitors.  

Jo Jingles is here each Tuesday morning and Wednesday afternoon during term times, sessions start at 09:30 Tuesday and 13:30 on Wednesday contact Claire on Tel: 01752 689651.

Youth group runs each Wednesday eve from 5:15 to 7:00pm for those aged 8- 12 years, and 7:30pm to 9:30pm for those over 13 years.  There are lots to do, why not give it a go.  Fortnightly on Thursday from 4pm the Youth Warden Scheme meet at the centre to take part in social activities and local environmental issues.

Bingo is available on Monday evenings and Wednesday morning’s eyes down at 10:00.  We have Karate each Tuesday and Friday from 6pm.The café is open Tuesday & Wednesday from 09:30 till mid-day for snacks and healthy low cost meals. Contact the centre for information on times and prices.

The bar is open from 7:15pm Thursday to Monday, plus Saturday and Sunday lunch times. The centre is also available for family celebrations, christenings, and wedding party’s in fact any type of family gathering including homecomings.  Please contact the centre for a booking form.

Outside we have a safe play area with seating and other play items appropriate for under fives.  We ask that parents remain with their child at all times while they are in the play area. To the side of the centre we have recently opened ‘Wiggy’s Den’ an Eco garden developed& funded through the Big Lottery and Groundwork’s grant, complete with vegetable patch and seating to take a break and relax surrounded by a sensory area of shrubs, flowers and herbs.

Op Herrick 14 Support

For the duration of Herrick 14 Crownhill Family Centre will facilitate a support group starting 22nd March 11 and running fortnightly thereafter.  Times will be 5-7pm with light healthy snacks.  We hope to bring regular up-dates and photographs to keep you informed.  Please contact Adele for further information.

Deployment Busting

A programme made up of six-week blocks working through the stages of the Cycle of Deployment to give attendees an understanding of the emotions and actions that many can identify. Looking at alternatives strategies to coping through a deployment.  Can include crafts, alternative therapies and discussion groups with on-going information giving.

Future Minds

A 10-week programme for children aged 7-11 years.  An opportunity for children to think of the impact service life and deployments have on children and discover ways of increasing resilience, through discussion, exercises and a work-shop over the half-term period.  Concentrating on encouraging, self-esteem building, increase confidence, problem solving, building positive relationships etc Please contact Adele on Tel: 01752 779054 for further information and referral process.
