Weekly Timetable of Events and Activities

The Tall Trees Community Centre was built in 1965 using funds from RNAS Yeovilton, the provision was enhanced in 1996 when an extension created the opportunity for the centre to gain a crèche room and community work office.

Since opening the centre has provided support, educational and social activities to many Service personnel and their families.

Tall Trees is positioned within a five minute drive from RNAS Yeovilton and is situated in the heart of a service family accommodation estate in the village of Ilchester. Although situated in Ilchester the centre also offers a valuable resource to many tri-service families living in Yeovil town centre and the surrounding areas.

Tall Tees Community centre offers a very cohesive and friendly environment which is achieved through a varied and busy programme, both in the centre and in the Yeovil area.

Ultimately Tall Trees Community Centre aims to offer mutual support to Service personnel and their families by helping to prevent or reduce the effects of personal difficulties especially those that arise as a result of Service life.

Tall Trees Community Centre is managed by the Naval Personal Family Service (NPFS) Community Development Worker Sally Crawford. The community worker’s role is very diverse but, is essentially to coordinate community activities, provide encouragement for future developments and assist the community with transforming their ideas into a reality.

We have a multifunctional "Haven" facility within the centre which forms a popular meeting place for a drop in coffee shop on a Tuesday and Thursday after school hours. The Haven is also a fantastic venue for small family celebrations and is available for hire at reasonable rates to service personnel.

The learning centre from RNAS Yeovilton kindly provides learning opportunities in the community centre through an internet ready Learn Direct PC. We welcome people to access the internet or use the PC in a nice atmosphere whilst taking the opportunity to meet others and enjoy a cuppa at the same time.

Tall Trees also offers crèche facilities, toddler groups, Spanish lesions, yoga and a whole host of other exciting things. For those of you who are looking for a relaxing place to socialise, we have a social bar area that provides an ideal place to meet with friends old and new.

The NPFS RN HIVE Information Office  is open on a Monday and Wednesday 0900-1445 and is an essential first stop for anyone moving into the area. The answer is just a question away. Denise Mitchell provides a bespoke information service and is enthusiastic to provide the community with any information that may make life a bit easier, especially when you are arriving into a new area or preparing for the next move.

We are always keen to hear from members of the community and look forward to answering any questions or providing information.
