Weekly Programme of Events / Activities
Situated near the sea front at Eastney, not far from Royal Marine Museum and Eastney Swimming Baths, the Cockleshell offers modern facilities including access and provision for wheelchair users.
The Centre comprises of a main hall / function room with licensed bar / disco (capacity approx 100), one crèche room / small activity room, a fully equipped kitchen and ample toilet facilities.
There is a lovely outside space, with play area, which includes a small children’s play park and large play sandpit.
Situated in the office is a computer, which is available for service families to use to contact their loved ones when they are deployed if they do not have access to the internet at home.
A Learn Direct outstation is now up and running in the Centre providing adult learning and training courses for Service families to access.
The Cockleshell is available for private hire for functions for members. Contact Centre Administrator about booking availability, rates and terms and conditions of hire and details on how to apply for membership.
The Centre offers a wide variety of activities for you to participate in, aimed at meeting the needs of the local Tri-Service serving community, their families and associate members.
The Milton Park Children’s Centre offers a number of group activities that run out of the Cockleshell. See below for current groups running.
Some activities are aimed specifically at Service Families, such as “Time for Me” usually a 4 week crèche time in the run up to Christmas.
The Cockleshell Social Committee organises a social calendar of events, with a strong family emphasis. These include seasonal activities, family discos, quiz nights and sports fixtures on the big screen.
