A Royal Navy Medical Cadetship not only allows you to finance the final three years at medical school but guarantees to support and develop you further to practice medicine in some of the most challenging and rewarding environments.

This includes a salary of £14,301 rising to £17,881, tuition fees, London allowance (if applicable), book allowance of £50 per annum, overseas medical electives and opportunity to take advantage of all sport and adventure training facilities.
What you’ll do:
During your degree you will have the opportunity to be a member of one of the University Royal Navy Units. After graduating you will complete the two year foundation programme in one of the Ministry Defence Hospital Units (MDHUs) in Portsmouth, Plymouth, Frimley Park, Peterborough or Birmingham.
Starting your career:
Your Short Career Commission (SCC) will commence on full registration as a Medical Practitioner with a starting salary of £52,225. In this phase you will complete the New Entry Medical Officer Course which includes 14 weeks completing the Initial Officer Training at Britannia Royal Naval College. Following this you spend three years performing General Duties either in shore establishments or at sea in Frigates, Destroyers or Submarines (male medical officers only). Alternatively you may spend time with the Royal Marines and have the opportunity to complete the All Arms Commando Course and earn the coveted green beret. The remainder of your SCC may be devoted to specialist training and you’ll also have the opportunity to apply for a longer commission.
