As well as its incredible opportunities for travel, adventure, training and teamwork, a Royal Navy career has plenty of practical benefits too. Throughout your career we will expect a lot from you, so in return, you can expect a great deal from us.
Pay and Benefits
Pay in the Royal Navy compares well with civilian life. As well as your basic pay, you will qualify for extra money for having specific skills, serving in certain specialist branches (in the Submarine Service and the Fleet Air Arm for example) and gaining new skills and qualifications. Click on the links at the side to see the rates of pay.
We are also one of the UK’s largest training organisations and offer a wide range of professional accredited courses, lasting anything from a few days to several years and at every level from basic skills to postgraduate degrees. Whatever your job or rank, you will have the chance to study for extra qualifications, often with financial assistance. These can be practical or connected with an interest, sport or hobby. If you join us without any formal qualifications we can help you gain GCSEs, A-level or even a degree during your career.
