Netball is a game that most women are familiar with from school days. It’s a great competitive sport that keeps you fit and encourages team spirit, which is exactly why the Royal Navy encourages it. We welcome all players with a reasonable grounding in netball, who are keen to improve their game and aspire to represent the Royal Navy.
Netball in the Royal Navy
How we play:
During the competitive part of the season, which runs between October and April, the squad meets for regular match and training weekends that prepare the girls for the ultimate competition of the season: the Inter Services tournament against the RAF and the Army. There are normally at least 10 training weekends and the occasional mid-week fixture, all of which will take place at a service establishment or a county training court. A training weekend will normally consist of a combination of core skill and fitness training together with matches on the Saturday and Sunday.
Great opportunities:
Reaching the top level of the game means you’ll have the chance to go on tours and see places that you might not otherwise get to see. The Royal Navy Netball Association has had a number of successful tours in Australia, Barbados, Malta, Belgium and most recently Trinidad and Tobago.
