Boxing in the Royal Navy

Amateur boxing in the 21st century is a vibrant and healthy sport that attracts rising numbers of converts, both as participants and supporters. It’s a great competitive activity, good for fitness and accessible to all. The Royal Navy and Royal Marines have a long history of competitive boxing, and we have a proven track record in helping our servicemen and women achieve sporting success right up to international level.

Have you got what it takes?

A great boxer needs self-discipline, outstanding fitness, courage and team spirit. The Royal Navy Boxing Association (RNBA) is committed to improving the standard of boxing through regular coaching. All standards are catered for, from complete novice to international boxers.

Progression through the sport:

Beginners are encouraged to attend boxing clubs run by most major shore establishments. If you have higher aspirations, you’ll be encouraged to attend local area and Royal Navy team selection.

To help your progression through the sport, the RNBA holds:

- Coaching days
- Command tournaments
- Navy championships
- Navy vs. county or city matches

This is all done at no expense to you, so are you ready to take on the competition?
