Get Ready to Join

The recruitment process might seem a bit involved, but that’s because we want you to be absolutely sure it’s the right decision for you. We also have a duty to choose people with the right attitudes and personal qualities to take on the responsibilities of life in an armed service.

Find Your ideal job

1. Get in Touch:
You can fill in a short form on this website or call us on 08456 00 14 44.

2. Meet Us
We’ll book you a place on an Initial Careers Presentation at your local Armed Forces Careers Office (AFCO).

3. Show Us What You’ve Got
Take our recruit test (RT). This covers basic English and Maths, problem-solving and understanding of mechanics. There are example questions on this site.

4. Fit To Join
Take a medical, an eye test and the pre-joining fitness test (PJFT). Test details are on this site.

5. Your Way Ahead
Have a formal interview with a Careers Adviser. We will also need to receive Security Clearance at this time.

6. Put It to the Test
Your final challenge is the ‘Potential Royal Marines Course’ (PRMC) at the Commando Training Centre, Lympstone. You’ll take part in a series of physical tests and teamwork exercises designed to show us you have the fitness, determination and positive attitude we’re looking for.
