Officer
As an officer, you’ll essentially be part of our management team. You’ll provide leadership and make decisions that will help fulfil the varied roles of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary. You’ll also be responsible for the training, development and welfare, and ultimately the lives of people under your command. Your career progression is very much in your own hands and depends entirely on your choices, commitment and achievements.
Third Officer:
You’ll begin your career as a Third Officer.
Second Officer:
As you gain experience and qualifications, and prove your abilities you could progress to Second Officer. As a second officer in Logistics and Supply you could even be in charge of a department.
First Officer:
Now you’re a First Officer, you’ll be in charge of an entire department on a ship or a shore base.
Chief Officer:
With the rank of Chief Officer, you’ll oversee most of the ship’s functions within your department.
Captain:
By now you’re a very senior officer, so you could be in command of a Royal Fleet Auxiliary ship,in charge of the engineers on board, or be the head of your specialisation on shore.
Commodore:
When you’re appointed Commodore, you have achieved the highest officer rank in the Royal Fleet Auxiliary.
