Nursing Selection Board
Potential Student Nurse selection boards begin with a maths test and an essay on a nursing related topic. Titles for the essay are promulgated before the board, in order that research around the topics can be carried out. The following day potential candidates are required to give a 10 minute powerpoint presentation on a nursing related topic of their choice. The final stage of the selection board is a formal interview in front of a panel.
The panel consists of the Nurse Recruiting Officer, the Board Chair, a clinical representative and an educational representative. Topics covered are Service knowledge of the RN and QARNNS, looking at the peacetime and operational roles.
Clinical experience if any, motivation, intended expectations and areas of interest, academic history, communication skills, values and the potential ability to cope with working in demanding and challenging environments.
