180 UCAS Points and Specialist Degree

If you have 180 UCAS points or more and a degree in engineering, medicine or theology, you’re eligible to become an officer in your specialist field within the Royal Navy. This means you could become an Engineer Officer, Medical Officer, Nursing Officer, Naval Nurse, Dental Officer or Chaplain.

Here’s what you can expect, depending on your degree:

Engineering:
• Starting salary: £28,216
• Submariner ‘golden hello’ awarded on completion of training: £5,000

‘Golden hello’ for Critical Care Nurse: £20,000
