RFA Cadet Engineer
As an Officer Cadet in the Royal Fleet Auxiliary, you get the best of both worlds. You'll be doing a responsible and challenging job, seeing the world and getting paid for it, while studying for a recognised higher qualification as though you were at university. You'll be developing the skills and knowledge you'll need as a RFA Engineer Officer, responsible for the operation and maintenance of all the mechanical and hydraulic equipment on board your ship.

You should have the following qualifications
As well as studying for a recognised higher qualification you will be working towards gaining your professional qualifications to become a certified Marine Engineer Officer. During training you'll be developing the skills and knowledge you'll need to be responsible for the operation and maintenance of all the mechanical equipment onboard ship. You must be 16 and upwards. For direct entry, you’ll need your MCA medical certificate (ENG1)and MCA Officer in Charge of an Engineering Watch Certificate of Competency (STCW95).
