The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) is a grant-making charity, and money donated is filtered into the charities that the RNRMC supports. These charities fall into five areas: Benevolence, Amenities, Dependants, Sports and Prizes.

The RNRMC always pays out the grant to dependants on death in service, and increases the amount to benevolence causes and charities as the area identified to be of greatest need. It works in close collaboration with the independent charities whose mission is to provide direct support to individuals in need.
